Since 2008 we have conducted a large number of asbestos surveys in Malta and Gozo.
We continue to make visits to both Gozo and Malta to inspect a large portfolio of commercial properties.

Commercial properties in Malta now require an asbestos register following the adoption of the UK and European Control of Asbestos Regulations.
As there are no qualified asbestos surveyors in Malta, it makes sense for you to choose a company with an established regular presence in the country.
The asbestos survey itself takes around one hour to complete onsite, with the register being compiled in the UK and sent to you once it completed.
Payment is due upon completion of the register, so you risk nothing by using a UK company to conduct this work on your behalf.
We have already conducted many thousands of asbestos surveys in the UK and during the course of 2008/9 will complete approximately 4-500 in Malta and Gozo.
Our first visit to Malta was during September 2008 when more than 60 commercial properties were inspected. To date, we have inspected and produced asbestos registers for more than 500 individual properties.
The nature of the construction of Maltese commercial property means that there isn’t usually much asbestos present in most buildings. However, we have discovered asbestos roof liners (soffits) and some cases of asbestos fire board.

These asbestos cement water tanks are commonplace in domestic and industrial properties throughout Malta and Gozo.
Gradually they are being phased out of use in favour of glass fibre tanks.

Asbestos Removal in Malta
Asbestos removal is a highly specialised role and one that should not be undertaken by unqualified trades people.
Whilst we do not remove asbestos ourselves, we manage asbestos removal projects to ensure that the job is done correctly and safely, in accordance with strict UK based regulations.
Asbestos cannot be sent to landfill in Malta and instead has to be exported, in accordance with local and EU regulations.
This inevitably adds to the costs of the removal project, but by having the project managed by Edgeworth Street, you can be 100% confident that all proper waste certificates will be provided and that the asbestos is completely removed from your property.
